Dive Shows at the Aquatheatre

Blue Planet Aquarium’s spectacular window to an underwater world…

Make sure you watch one of our exciting daily dive shows in Blue Planet Aquarium’s ‘Aquatheatre’!
With spectacular views of life in the depths around the Caribbean Reef, our Presenter will tell you all about the fascinating creatures you’ll see swimming by – including the divers who will be joining in the presentation!

If you’re wondering what it’s like to swim amongst more than 1500 fish, including Europe’s largest collection of sharks – now’s your chance to ask!

At least THREE shows daily starting at 11.30am!

Our resident sharks include Sand Tiger Sharks, Zebra Sharks, Bamboo Sharks, Guitar Sharks and Black Tip Reef Sharks.

The stars of the show are our impressively large Sand Tiger Sharks.
Sand Tiger Sharks are commonly known as Ragged-tooth Sharks in South Africa due to their 250 needle like teeth.
Maximum Size: 3.2 M

Our distinctive Zebra Sharks (Stegostoma fasciatum or varium) is a species of carpet shark and the sole member of the family Stegostomatidae.

This elegant shark has a distinctive black tip to its dorsal fin. Maximum Size: 1.9 M

These majestic sharks can often be seen resting on the Reef bed. They are easily identified by their little handlebar moustaches!

These nocturnal bottom dwellers are so named because of their bamboo-like markings. You will often find them having 40 winks on the bottom of the Reef bed. Maximum Size: 0.75 M

These beautiful red fish with large eyes, from the western Atlantic, can sometimes be seen swimming upside down! Maximum Size: 60CM

These stunning silvery fish have smooth skin and a deeply forked tail to help speedy swimming. Maximum Size: 1.2M

These fantastic fish are known for closely following bigger fish such as sharks to gain protection from other predators. Maximum Size: 1.2M

This hefty fish will grow as big as a small car! You will often find him chilling out in the main Aquatheatre window watching our visitors enjoying the Dive Show!

Fintastic Shark Fact!

The Blue Planet Aquarium Aquatheatre window is actually made of acrylic and is 23cm (8in) thick to hold back the 4 million litres (880,000 gallons) of water of the Caribbean reef. It cost more than £100,000!
