Britain’s Best Aquarium seeks Assistant Visitor Services Manager

Blue Planet Aquarium has an exciting opportunity for a pro-active individual to join us as an Assistant Visitor Services Manager.

The responsibility of the Assistant Visitor Services Manager will be varied, challenging, but extremely rewarding. Reporting to the Visitor Services Manager, you will play a key part in ensuring our visitors enjoy their experience and hopefully leave the aquarium inspired to care more about the environment.

A hands on approach is required as you will be responsible for leading and motivating a strong team of Visitor Services Presenters who have a diverse range of responsibilities which include: delivering education classes, reception work, delivering presentations to both large and small groups of people, face painting and birthday parties.

Responsible also for ensuring effective crowd control and customer flow; and any health and safety issues including risk assessments are carried out correctly and reported to the responsible person in the correct manner.

As you will also be responsible for assisting the Visitor Services Manager with achieving budgeted sales targets, you should also be comfortable managing budgets, headcount, payroll etc as you are people.

As an experienced Supervisor/Assistant Manager you will relish the opportunity to demonstrate your skills in a customer focused environment.

This post is full time, with weekend shifts on a rota’d basis.

DREAM JOB FOR SHARK LOVER

Blue Planet Aquarium is aiming to give one lucky person a once in a lifetime opportunity to land their dream job of working with sharks.

The aquarium is launching an ‘apprentice-style’ nationwide search to find the perfect person to fill a new post in their zoological department.

Candidates are invited to make a sixty-second video demonstrating why they deserve to get the job and send it into the aquarium.

Qualifications and previous experience are not necessary, however a desire to be part of the Aquarist team at Blue Planet Aquarium should be shown on your application video.

Voluntering at Blue Planet Aquarium

Ever wondered what it’s like to be an Aquarist/Animal Keeper? Or Want to gain valuable experience in the field? We offer a 3 month volunteering program which includes:

• One/Two days per week for 3 months
• Full on the job training
• Skills development
• A suitable reference on successful completion of a 3 month period

A short informal interview will be conducted before placements are confirmed. Placements are in demand so commitment is important.
